Beloved children of the most high King, if you are a follower of Jesus you have been adopted into God’s family & are now a part of what we like to call “the body of Christ”. The Lord saw you as you are (all your strengths and weakness included!) and He chose you to join His family. We now have the honor of being a part of this community of believers & we each have a purpose within it.
The Lord declares these truths over us…
- We are one in value (1 Corinthians 12:13)
- We each have a unique purpose (1 Corinthians 12:14-20)
Do not be discouraged, my friends, when your life does not look like someone else’s. Your gifts are not their gifts, but that does not take away from your value!
Just like a body has several parts, so does God’s family! The eye does not do the same thing that the foot does. It would be crazy to think that because our feet can’t see, then our foot is purposeless! Our eyes are important for seeing, and our feet are important for walking. Each one is valuable, but they serve a different purpose.
In the same way, it would be crazy to think that because we aren’t gifted in the same way as someone else, then our life is meaningless. Take for example the people in the church who are really good at the administrative details. It would be crazy to think that because he/she is a great planner, but not a great teacher, then his/her purpose is irrelevant. We need the strong planners and the great teachers! Their gifts are unique, but that does not take away from their value!
Sweet people, you have a place in the body of Christ. The Lord can use whatever He has gifted you with to do incredible things in His name. Don’t try to be like everyone else because the Lord designed you uniquely for a purpose & I pray that your heart can live in light of that (:
*this was based on the passage from 1 Corinthians 12:12-31
